I spent much of my career at the University of Hong Kong, although I've also taught, for extended periods at the universities of St. Andrews, Auckland, Washington, Cape Town, Swansea, Glasgow and Birmingham. My main area of research at present is the logico-semantical paradoxes.

Most of my postgraduate students have worked in the general area of the philosophy of logic and language, and some have specialized in the study of individual philosophers including Russell, Wittgenstein, Davidson, Chomsky and Kripke.
