'Escher, Reflexivity, Contradiction and Paradox', Leonardo, 1996, pp.299-308. This paper concerns the formal relationship between the 'impossible objects' investigated by the mathematician Roger Penrose and the graphic artist M.C. Escher and the contradictions implicit in certain logico-semantical paradoxes. This too was (in a popular form) the theme of a lecture I gave to open the M.C. Escher exhibition at the University Museum and Art Gallery, Hong Kong, 1993.
